Tailor's Bunion Surgery (5th Toe)
A Bunionette or tailors bunion deformity is a foot deformity similar to a bunion except involving the fifth toe. The fifth toe gradually deviates inwards, towards the opposite foot.
Dr Pocklington employs a variety of advanced surgical techniques for correction of bunions that outperform their traditional surgery counterparts. The surgery involves the shaving of bony prominence and re-alignment of the fifth toe. The site is usually fixated with the insertion of a small internal compression screw which promotes early weight-bearing immediately post-surgery.
This procedure is generally performed as an outpatient day-procedure under general anaesthesia. The approximate surgery time is 45 minutes.
